Meet the Mentee: Hannah Lee

After receiving hundreds of applications to our Extra Teeth Mentorship program back in December, we’re excited to announce the first of our two mentees for the current period: Hannah Lee!

Hannah Lee has recently graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters degree in Creative Writing with Distinction. She has previously been published in Issue 53 of Neon magazine and is aiming towards being featured in more literary magazines in the future.

Hannah is working on a collection of short stories based on her family’s experience of being Chinese immigrants in 1970s Scotland. She also enjoys writing stories about the mundanity of life but with sinister twists as well as experimenting with form and hybridity. Hannah wants to be able to call herself a ‘proper’ author one day, hoping to be published and see her work on bookshop shelves.

We were stuck by both the clarity and quality of Hannah’s writing, and the thoughtfulness with which she’s approaching her career. We can’t wait to support her over the next six months, both working on her writing and helping her navigate her first steps into the industry.

Keep your eyes peeled for much more from Hannah!
